spin001 BLACK BONED ANGEL
Supereclipse
spin001 (2005) CD - $10.00
The subterranean depths of Aotearoa have unleashed a tsunami of Earth-shattering wall-of-drone guitar destruction excavated from petrified remains of a Black Boned Angel. At the onset of a Total Supereclipse of the Sunn, layers of distortion-addled amp-damage invoke black spirits of like-minded mystics in Skullflower and Corrupted. Not for the meek of bowel or deficient of attention, Supereclipse is a one hour journey to the center of the riff; akin to tectonic plates moving in slo-mo along the crust of earth; the audio equivalent of glaciers being birthed or Tibetan monks seeped in black tar; an epic poem on the birth of the Sabbath; a suite in three (bowel) movements. www.20buckspin.com for more info.

"The three tracks that comprise this head fuck of a psychedelic drone 'n' doom album are kindred spirits with the works of Hyatari and SUNN0))). It's hard to discern when the riffs start and the distortion ends, but when Keane finally breaks through the background hum, it's like getting thrown down a dark pit. He's written the soundtrack to fear, dread, and all those other emotions that get the blood pumping. Supereclipse is a colossal album. It won't be for everyone, but those who appreciate drone with demented energy should pick this up."

"Definitely heavy as fuck. More riff-centric and beat-driven than SunnO))) and Earth 2, but still pretty merciless in the drone-doom department. Reminds me of Halo in parts as well, minus the strangled vocals."
