A People's History of the United States
Lecture/discussion by the legendary educator, historian and activist. Outlines, with great humor and passion, the recorded stories of social movements which are left out or grossly distorted by mainstream "historians."
Heroes and Martyrs: Emma Goldman, Sacco & Vanzetti
Zinn takes us back to the early
decades of the 20th century, and through a focus on Emma Goldman and Sacco and Vanzetti, opens windows on immigrant life and labor struggles of the day, the political scalliwags and cold-hearted tycoons. And around our central characters are a cast as colorful as that of any novel -- Dr. Ben Reitman, the hobo doctor of Chicago, who went from janitor at the medical school to
dean and devoted his practice to hobos and street people and was Emma Goldman's lover for over a decade; or Alexander Berkman, who served 17 years in federal prison for attempting to assassinate Carnegie's manager Frick and was later deported with Goldman.
Stories Hollywood Never Told
In this talk given at the Taos Film Festival, Zinn turns his attention to Hollywood, the stories it tells and the ones it doesn't. He tells the stories of wars from the point of view of disillusioned deserters, of the differences between All Quiet on the Western Front and Saving Private Ryan, of railroad strikes; the Haymarket Affair, Eugene Debs and the real story of Helen Keller, socialist and anti-war agitator.
Artists In a Time of War
In a lecture delivered on October 10, 2001, Zinn provides an alternate perspective on war focusing on writers and artists such as Mark Twain and Langston Hughes. While blind patriotism dominates post 9/11 America, Zinn gently reminds us that pride in one's country comes not from the words and deeds of government, but from the actions of working people.

"The style of Mr. Zinn gives the topic a higher level of entertainment and education. While being humorous he still is able to impart his view of events and personalities. While one may disagree with his view, one still can be educated and entertained at the same time." - Amazon review
