03/05/08: More about Mike Conley from Jello Biafra
Jello had this to add about Mike Conley from M.I.A. and Naked Soul
"I have few regrets about my life in punk and the underground. The big one is that so many dear friends have died so young.
Mike was more than a great frontman with a great voice in a great band. He was warm, friendly, even soothing almost. He always made you feel accepted - that he was on your side and we were all in this together. A reporter told me that ex-M.I.A. guitarist Nick Adams said something to the effect of whenever Mike entered a room he always left with more friends than had when he came in. That was Mike.
This is so wrong. It always is. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Three young girls have lost their father. A memorial and scholarship fund has been set up at Mike Conley Family Memorial Fund, c/o Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 11547, Santa Ana, CA 92711.
